সংজ্ঞা : অতীত কালে কোনো কাজ বেশ কিছু সময় ধরে চলছিল অথবা অতীত কালে সংঘটিত দুটি কাজের মধ্যে একটি অপরটির আগে কিছু সময় ধরে চলছিল—এরূপ বোঝাতে verb-এর past perfect continuous tense হয়।
বাক্যের গঠন :
Affirmative Structure : Subject+ had+ been + verb + ing + object + since/ for + extension.
Negative Structure : Subject+ had + not + been + verb + ing + object + since/ for + extension.
Interrogative Structure : Had + Subject+ been + verb + ing + object + since/ for + extension.
Since / for ব্যবহারের নিয়ম :
* সাধারণত অনির্দিষ্ট বা ব্যাপক সময় বোঝাতে for ব্যবহৃত হয়।
* কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময় থেকে কোনো কাজ চলছে বোঝাতে Since ব্যবহৃত হয়।
উদাহরণ :
Affirmative : We had been crossing the river for three hours.
Negative : We had not been crossing the river for three hours.
Interrogative : Hadn’t we been crossing the river for three hours?
