Rule-5 : Present participle as premodifier

1.         Don’t get down from the running bus.

2.         A smiling person always looks good.

ব্যাখ্যা : Verb-এর base form-এর সঙ্গে ‘ing’ যোগ করে present participle গঠিত হয়। যেমন—ওপরের বাক্য দুটিতে ‘run + ing = running’ এবং ‘smile+ing = smiling’ হচ্ছে present participle. এখানে ‘running’ ও ‘smiling’ এই present participle দুটি ‘bus’ ও ‘person’ এই দুটি noun-কে modifz করে বা noun দুটি সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য প্রদান করে।

 

Rule-6 : Past participle as premodifier

1.         It is difficult to recover the stolen goods.

2.         We need some educated people to run this country.

ব্যাখ্যা : ওপরের বাক্য দুটিতে ‘stolen’ ও ‘educated’ হচ্ছে past participle, যা ‘goods’ ও ‘people’ এই দুটি noun-কে modifz করে বা noun দুটি সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য প্রদান করে।

 

Determiners as premodifier

Determiners বলতে সাধারণত Articles, Demonstratives, Possessives, Quantifiers ইত্যাদি নির্দেশ করে থাকে।

Rule-7 : Articles as premodifier

1.         A crocodile is floating on the canal water.

2.         This is the man who came here yesterday.

Note : A, an, the-কে articles হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়।

 

Rule-8 : Demonstratives as premodifier

1.         I followed that car.

2.         Those children were mischievous.

Note : This, that, these, those ইত্যাদি demonstratives হিসেবে ব্যবহূত হয়।

 

Rule-9 : Possessives as premodifier

1.         My desire is to achieve A+.

2.         His father was a journalist.

Note : My, your, his, her, its, our, their ইত্যাদি possessives হিসেবে ব্যবহূত হয়।

 

Rule-10 : Quantifiers as premodifier

1.         A few people dare to take risks.

2.         I don’t spend much money unnecessarily.

3.         My friend bought ten books from the book fair.

Note : Every, each, any, some, several, many, much, little, few, a few, a lot of, enough, either, neither, three, five, ten ইত্যাদি quantifiers হিসেবে ব্যবহূত হয়।
