After Maria gets dressed and has her breakfast, she puts her books in her bag. She is ready for school. Maria is not like any other students in her neighbourhood. She goes to school and likes to be with her friends. But Maria cannot see the beautiful spring day. She cannot see the flowers, the blue sky, or the singing birds. She cannot see the new green leaves on the trees. She cannot see these because she is visually impaired. She has been unable to see since she was born.

Once there was a foolish crow. One day it was flying over a meat shop. When the shopkeeper looked behind, it stole a piece of meat. The shopkeeper did not see the crow stealing the piece of meat from his shop. The crow flew to a distant tree and sat on a branch with the piece of meat in its mouth, It thought that it would eat the piece of meat. A sly fox was beneath the tree. It saw the piece of meat in the mouth of the crow. It wanted to have the piece of meat. It began to think how to get it. It thought of a plan. It started praising the crow. ‘You must have a sweet voice. You could sing very nice. I would like to hear your nice singing’, the fox said. Hearing this praise of the clever fox, the crow became emotional and also felt very proud of itself. So it opened the mouth to sing. At that time the piece of meat fell down from its mouth. The sly fox took it in its mouth. Then the fox ran away with that piece of meat.
